A Rainy Day and Mutts

Our daily newspaper is the “The Chronicle Telegraph” and I LOVE it!I could get the same or similar content on my laptop, or phone, but it’s the printed page that has me hooked – even though I always have to wash my hands afterwards from the ink – but I love that too.

One of the sections that I enjoy the most are the comics. It’s usually the second section I read after the Editorials. There are several comic strips that I had never heard of before. I grew up with Peanuts, Lil Abner, Blondie, Nancy, Mary Worth, and others that are not even in publication these days.

I have discovered Pickles, Sherman’s Lagoon, Pearls Before Swine and Mutts. I cut out the ones that really “tickle my funny bone” and I have started my own personal comic book. I bought an old fashion scrapbook album, like the ones years ago that were just paper and there I tape my “funny papers.”

Mutts is my favorite and it’s so sweet. It’s a daily comic strip created by Patrick McDonnel. It is distributed by King Features Syndicate, and it follows the adventures of Earl, a dog, and Mooch, a cat. Earl and Mooch interact with each other, their human owners, and the other animals around their neighborhood.

Peanuts creator Charles Schultz praised Mutts, calling it “one of the best comic strips of all time” and I agree!

It’s raining here today in my neighborhood and just look at what Mooch is doing.
