Escape the cold of winter, drink up steamy sips, and relax!
This is the weather forecast for where I live…
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Watch beginning Tuesday evening and extending until Thursday:
An arctic blast of cold temperatures will move into the region
on Tuesday night behind an arctic cold front. High temperatures
in the lower 20’s to upper teens early Tuesday will quickly fall
behind the front to below zero across the area on Tuesday night.
Temperatures will then likely remain below zero through Thursday.
High temperatures across the area may not go above zero degrees
on Wednesday for the first time since January 1994 in many
locations. Low temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday morning
will be the lowest the region has felt since February 2015 and
could break daily records by several degrees.
Sounds like its going to be a bit chilly …
What do you do- the temperature is dropping? You put on a few layers of clothes, the heater is on, but you can still feel the chill in the air. So, you think to yourself, “Now what… housebound for several days”. But I have a plan and I think it’s the perfect solution to these next couple of days of arctic cold.
I plan on settling into the comfort of my nice warm house, wrapped in my fuzzy, fake fur blanket, making a HUGE pot of vegetable beef barley soup, lighting TONS of candles, and alternating between watching old movies and reading. And of course, snuggling up with endless cups of lovely tea. The tea will warm my belly, it will warm my hands and it will warm my soul. Sounds pretty good doesn’t it.
In the end…
Just think hygge, the Danish art of coziness. In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. So, the warm glow of my candles is hygee. Drinking endless cups of tea is hygee. Cozying up on the sofa and watching a movie – that’s hygee too. And did I mention I plan on wearing comfy pj’s for the duration.
